DC State Fair Announces First Ever Spring Mini-Fair At Brookland Arts Walk
A celebration of all things Washington, DC, the Spring Mini-Fair will showcase the District’s agricultural, culinary, and artistic talents.
WASHINGTON, DC (MAY 2, 2022) — Today, the DC State Fair is excited to announce the DC Spring Mini-Fair, a celebration of the District, to take place at the Brookland Arts Walk on Sunday, May 15, 2022. The Spring Mini-Fair will feature contests, performances by local artists, culinary demonstrations, educational and kid friendly activities, and more.
"As we return to in-person events and neighborhood gatherings, the DC State Fair is excited to welcome our community to our first-ever Spring Mini-Fair,” said Jaime Loizzo, President of DC State Fair. “The District is full of such unique people and amazing talents and we did not want to wait all the way until September to present an in-person event. Through our first Spring Mini-Fair, we are excited to offer a preview of the DC State Fair, the annual free showcase of the region’s agricultural, culinary and artistic talents that we all look forward to every fall.”
The Spring Mini-Fair will take place on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 10am to 2pm at the Brookland Arts Walk (716 Monroe Street NE, Washington, DC 20017).
Among many activities, the Spring Mini-Fair will include local vendors, performances, activities, demos, and a number of contests, such as:
Kids origami workshop led by Taro's Origami Certified Artists Yoshimi Muto and Michiko Okuma
Contests ranging from best tattoo to a kid's dance-off competition
A culinary demonstration by Capital City Mambo Sauce
Food from local food trucks Lattimore's Funnel Cakes and Smoke Stacks House of BBQ
Local artists and businesses, including booths from Bailiwick Clothing Company, Naked Decor, and Art by Zachary Sasim + many more!
The event will serve as a preview of the upcoming DC State Fair, which will return in-person to Gateway DC at St. Elizabeth’s East Campus on September 11. 2022.
This will be the first in-person event of the DC State Fair since 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic led to the 2020 and 2021 DC State Fairs going fully virtual. The health and safety of all participants, vendors, and volunteers is a top priority. In organizing this event, DC State Fair will follow all local COVID-19 protocols and CDC guidelines.
Special thanks to our presenting partner and sponsor UnitedHealthcare.
