Contest Rules
Entries may be (1) the creation of a work of art made from recycled parts or (2) the creation of an object made from recycled parts that is an improvement over simply recycling the object or an improvement of the original use.
At least 90% of all parts must be recycled from some previous use. Glue, paint, screws, and other fastening devices are not included in the 10% that do not have to be recycled.
A list of all parts must be included with the work of art when turned in. The list must identify which parts are new.
This contest is to be entered by individuals only, no group entries are allowed.
An artist’s statement may be included with the entry explaining what the artist is conveying in this work of art or what the value, use, or impact of the object is. This should not exceed 150 words.
Entries cannot exceed the size of 3.5 feet on any dimension.
Individuals may enter one entry per category.
Entries should not contain parts that expose the public, judges, or volunteers to injury (i.e. sharp edges or points).
All entries may be picked up from the DC State Fair on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Entries not picked up will be donated.
The DC State Fair is not responsible for any damage to entries.
You may not enter if you are a professional craftsperson or artist.
