DC residents cannot showcase their culinary, agricultural, and crafty talents in any state fairs. This is what DC State Fair aims to fix, and this bake sale is proof that the DC community has talent and just needs an event to showcase it. The bake sale had an amazing display from local homebakers. There were fruit tarts, pies, cookies, zucchini cake balls, bacon bourbon blondies, cherry granola bars, peanut butter chocolate cookies, croissants, bacon apple pies, peach ginger pies, peanut butter muffins, crumb topped coffee cake, s’more cookies, Mexican oatmeal cookies, and much much more.
This was a community event with the great Zorba’s Cafe hosting us (if you have not eaten a delicious gyro from Zorba’s, you are missing out). Thank you Alejandra Owens from Borderstan for helping coordinate and Olga Berman from Mango & Tomato for offering one of her beautiful photos for the flyer.
Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word and everyone who stopped by to purchase a baked good. Through the generously donated baked goods, we raised $255 to help fund operational costs for the fair, and we were also able to donate over 100 items to N Street Village, an organization that helps homeless and low-income women.
Thank you, DC. See you at the Fair on August 27th!
